Inspired by the delicate beauty of flowers, Little Tu is designed to accompany the growth of plants while softly illuminating them. The hands of the designer, Giusi Castaldo, plunge into the ground, symbolizing the love and care that goes into nurturing a plant. The lamp's name, "Little Tu," represents the shape of love that is given to these plants.
What sets Little Tu apart is its versatility. It can be used as a table lamp or an applique, making it suitable for various living spaces and indoor gardens. The lamp's simple yet strong connection between nature and artifice is what makes it truly unique. It seamlessly integrates the natural beauty of plants with the artificial light, creating a captivating visual experience.
Little Tu is made from heart-wood, available in various essences, and features a container vase for plants. The vase is made from corian, a material that is not harmful to the natural growth of plants. The lamp's electric installation, powered by a 12V feeder, is located away from moisture sources, ensuring the safety of the plants. Waterproof LED strips are embedded in the corian parallelepiped, creating beautiful plays of light.
Available in two sizes, 30 x 30 x 16cm and 22 x 22 x 16cm, Little Tu can be used as a table lamp or an applique with a suitable wall bearing system. Its intimate, warm, and suffused light makes it ideal for creating the right atmosphere in holiday houses, hotel halls, conference rooms, offices, terraces, and living rooms.
The project for Little Tu started in January 2016 and was completed in October 2016 in Naples. Throughout the design process, the challenge was to find the perfect balance between nature and artifice without altering their individual essence. Little Tu is the result of this experimentation, creating a harmonious coexistence between light and nature.
Little Tu has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2017 in the Lighting Products and Fixtures category. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Little Tu's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contribute to a better world.
With its unique design and the ability to illuminate nature, Little Tu is not just a source of light but a living, real, and naturalistic component that adds beauty to any space. It is a testament to the power of design to create objects that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
